DETROIT, MI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The big stage in Detroit is set where the best college football players will hear their names called in the first round.
The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday and the Packers have 11 picks, which ties for most picks entering the draft.
And among those in attendance are representatives from Green Bay, watching and learning how to make the event even better when Titletown hosts the draft next year.
After the draft ends, that’s when Green Bay will have a better idea on what to prepare for and after the Super Bowl is when more details are revealed.
“It’s an opportunity for all of us to put out our best welcome mat, show people a good time, get them to want to come back for another visit, whether it’s during football season or just come in and take in all of what Wisconsin has to offer and even businesses, you know, if we can get a few people to think, ‘Wow, Green Bay, Wisconsin, fantastic place, I’m thinking about picking up and moving somewhere, why not here?’ So I mean the attract and retain possibilities are endless so shame on us if we don’t maximize it on our end so that’s what we’re working for,” said director of public affairs for the Packers, Aaron Popkey.
The 2024 NFL draft runs Thursday through Saturday
