FLAGER COUNTY, FLORIDA (WLUK) — A missing Green Bay teenager was arrested in Florida earlier this week for grand theft auto.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop around Tuesday morning on a vehicle with a Wisconsin license plate traveling 31 miles per hour in a 20-mph school zone.
The driver, 17-year-old Jayden Reed, said he was “new to the area and did not realize he was driving through a school zone.” Reed was given a written warning.
A few hours later, the Sheriff’s Office received information that the vehicle Reed was driving had just been reported stolen and he had been entered as a missing person by the Green Bay Police Department.
Authorities located Reed’s vehicle at a gas station and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Reed and his passenger, 18-year-old Katie Stevens from Seymour, were both removed from the vehicle.
An investigation revealed Reed stole the vehicle from his father while he was away on business. Reed had been stopped by GBPD a few weeks prior to this incident for reckless driving, and was therefore restricted from driving the vehicle.
