GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Boy Scouts of America were working to make a difference in the community on Saturday.
Area scouts with the Bay-Lakes Council hosted the 36th annual Scouting-for-Food Drive at Lambeau Field.
Over the last week, scouts collected food in their own communities, and all donations were gathered Saturday Morning at Lambeau Field.
With a helping hand from Paul’s Pantry, the thousands of pounds of food will now be delivered to local pantries and food banks across the area.
Assistant Scout Executive Corey Davis tells FOX 11 that this is one of his favorite aspects of the scouting program.
“You know, a lot of times the people when they think of the scouts they think of the camping outdoors and the out in the wilderness and survivor skills and we certainly do that but a lot of people don’t really consider that other aspect, which is that community service,” he says.
The Bay-Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts covers the area from the Milwaukee County line to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, totaling nearly 8,000 scouts.
