GREEN BAY , WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – It’s finally here; opening day at Green Bay’s famous Bay Beach amusement park.
State inspectors were at the amusement park throughout the week, working with staff and checking rides to ensure everything was ready and safe for riders.
Saturday’s opening was met with long lines and smiling faces, including the Weisse family from De Pere.
“We haven’t missed an opening day in 13 years,” Andrew Weisse tells FOX 11.
Park officials say rides like the Bay Beast have been updated, and they’re excited to welcome people to newer attractions like The Nebulaz, which opened shortly before the park closed for the season in September.
Saturday’s opening day is also the first time in two decades that riders will see increased ticket prices and the number of tickets needed for some rides. Officials spoke with FOX 11 about the price changes this week.
But, park goers like the Weisse family say they aren’t bothered.
“It’s just the way of life, I thought it was actually very fair, so I have no issue with it,” Weisse says. “A 50-cent increase, there are so many things that have gone up by 50 bucks so 50 cents was not a bad deal at least for the Zippin Pippin.”
